EnCap Flatrock Midstream Announces Executive Promotions; Morriss Hurt and Karl Pfluger Named Managing Director

SAN ANTONIO – December 18, 2013 - EnCap Flatrock Midstream is pleased to announce the promotion of Morriss L. Hurt and Karl R. Pfluger to managing director effective January 1, 2014.  Mr. Hurt and Mr. Pfluger join Managing Director Dennis J. McCanless and EnCap Flatrock’s three managing partners Dennis F. Jaggi, William R. Lemmons Jr., and founder William D. Waldrip as members of the senior investment staff.

Mr. Hurt joined EnCap Flatrock in 2008 and has played an important role in the early stages and subsequent growth of the EnCap Flatrock Midstream private equity funds. He serves on the boards of Lucid Energy Group, LLC; Rangeland Energy, LLC; and Tradition Midstream, LLC. Prior to EnCap Flatrock, Mr. Hurt served as president and founder of The Encino Group, a boutique investment bank providing institutional quality financial advisory services for entrepreneur-owned companies. In this capacity Mr. Hurt raised growth capital for high-quality management teams and provided merger and acquisition, financial and strategic advisory services. Prior to Encino, Mr. Hurt was a financial analyst with Salomon Smith Barney in New York, working in the firm’s Global Power group. Mr. Hurt earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in finance from Texas A&M University.

With deep experience in energy finance, Mr. Pfluger joined Flatrock in 2010 and helped drive the ongoing activities and growth of the company’s funds and portfolio companies.  He serves on the boards of Caballo Energy, LLC; Cardinal Midstream, LLC; EagleClaw Midstream, LLC; Isis Energy, LLC; and Nuevo Midstream, LLC. Previously, Mr. Pfluger worked at Quintana Energy Partners, an energy-focused private equity firm, where he originated, evaluated and managed a broad range of investments across all energy sectors. Prior to his engagement at Quintana, Mr. Pfluger worked at American Capital assisting in the build-out of the energy-focused investment effort. Mr. Pfluger was an analyst with Raymond James & Associates’ energy investment banking division in Dallas. Mr. Pfluger attended Texas A&M University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in political science with a minor in business administration.
